Hanging out in the bouncer

John was six weeks old on the Saturday the 21st. He is such a wonderful and good baby and we are so thankful for him everyday. We love his smiles and laughs and he is talking up a storm...lots of new sounds. His expressions are great fun to watch too. We are so blessed! We can't believe that six weeks ago we brought our little man home...how the time flies.

Good news

We took John in for an ultrasound at 4 weeks to follow up on the kidney dilation in utero. We expected this to just be a double check and for everything to be fine. We found out last week that the ultrasound showed a moderate dilation in the right kidney and ureter and a minor dilation in the left kidney. John's pediatrician expected that he had reflux and ordered a VCUG for him. Today we had the VCUG done in Truckee and much to our relief there was no sign of any reflux. In talking to the radiologist he thinks that the doctor will send us back for another ultrasound to do another check on the kidneys and determine the next step. Hopefully it will come back normal. Please send healthy thoughts that our little John's kidneys are ok. Finding out that there is no reflux has lifted weight off our shoulders for sure...now to resolve what is going on with the dilation will be good.

John was happy to meet his cousin - they will have many adventures together in the years to come. Dad, Grandma, Joy, Dave, Ryan, Julie and Trevor were all excited to meet John for the first time. It was a great family weekend.

Three weeks old

John was three weeks old yesterday - amazing how fast the time is going by! John had his three week appointment and was given an excellent bill of health. He weighed in at 9lbs, 8 oz. and 21 1/2 inches long. The doctor said that he is right at the 50th percentile. He also aced his reflex and eye tests...the doctor said he is ahead of the expectation for a three week old. He fills our hearts every day and we are so blessed with our precious bundle of joy.
