Clapping

Yesterday John decided it was time to start clapping. He clapped a couple times during the day with Daddy. Then last night as we were unloading and opening all the hardwood flooring boxes at the new house he sat in his stroller happy as a clam just clapping away...so very excited that he was clapping!

Eight months old

Our sweet baby John turned eight months old this past Thursday. He continues to grow, has such an awesome personality and is a very active little man these days. In the past month John has mastered crawling and is quite proficient at standing...he pulls/pushes up at the couch, the TV stand, a chair, the wall, his toy basket, our legs...basically anything that he get a bit of leverage on. He has his two lower teeth and the drooling continues as the upper gums are giving him a bit of discomfort. We brush his teeth every night and morning and he is very into it. We brush the lower teeth, the upper gums and even his tongue which he holds out and likes to have brushed. He smiles and looks in the mirror feeling so proud. He continues to love his baths and even enjoys an occasional shower and put his face into the water thinking it is very funny. John walks all around holding onto our fingers and walks along the couch and his crib. Speaking of his crib...our sweet boy gets up in the night and stands in his crib hollering for us. And if he doesn't get a quick enough response he has figured out how to open the door and hang his head over to holler down the hall! Yes, time to move the crib :-) We continue with lots of reading and he pulls books out of his play basket all the time to look at. He loves his cell phone, keys, dump truck with sand toys, light up stacker, and anything that he can chew on. He loves to make noises with his tongue and lips...motorboat, grrrgrrrr, mama, dada, yesssss, and in general just talks up a storm. I can't say I have ever seen a baby laugh and smile as much as John. Even when he is tired he tends to get punchy and laugh versus getting fussy. He has added millet cereal, oatmeal cereal, zucchini, summer squash and a variety of winter squash to his list of foods and loves all of them! He weighs in at 20lbs, 2 oz and is certainly sprouting up. He is in 6-12 months clothes and has moved onto his convertible car seat as his head was at the top of his carrier and his feet were hanging over. He is feeling like such a big boy! He loves to give hugs, is very aware when a toy is taken away, looks to see where that toy went, is very determined and has quite an impressive ability to stay focused on what he wants. We can't believe that our little one is already eight months...we are enjoying every moment and look forward to month nine ahead!

Best in the West Rib Cook-Off

John and Daddy
The fire truck was very cool...
A real NASCAR race car...John even got to hear the engine start up!
Just chillin' in his stroller
John loves to swing his legs and play with his pig rattle

We enjoyed a warm day at the Rib Cook-Off this past weekend. John was certainly busy looking around at all the action.

Time for a new carseat...

As you can see the growing boy has maxed out his carseat carrier and is now onto his new convertible carseat...way to grow John :-)

Last week on Thursday the 27th his second tooth came in giving John a precious smile with his two lower teeth. His upper teeth seem to be making a move now...which one will come in next?
